Companhia do Vandúzi S.A. was created in 2004 with the objective of exploring the potential of horticultural production in Manica province.
Companhia do Vandúzi has been growing throughout the years, investing in the expansion of its horticultural areas and also expanding its markets, with the objective of creating economic value for the province and the country, with a turnover of 6 Million USD in the previous fiscal year.
Technical Facts
Companhia do Vandúzi has 410 ha-1 under production, 180ha-1 under pivot and 230ha-1 on drip irrigation, in two main farms. In the growing area of Chitundo, a total of 250mil USD ha s been invested in the construction of a dam with the storage capacity of 1 million cubic meters. Towards the end of the year, a further 200 ha-1 shall come under production, as we are currently expanding one of the farms.
Companhia de Vandúzi currently specialises in the production of baby corn and different varieties of chillies, with the objective of supplying the UK, European and Southern Africa markets. 99% of its production is aimed at the export market.
In Vandúzi village, where the company is based, the company has a pack house unit capable of processing 70t of perishables a week. At the moment there are studies being undertaken with the objective of mechanizing certain processes in order to further increase its operating capacity.
Certificates
Companhia do Vandúzi is proud of being compliant with the highest standards of production and packing. It is a Global Gap (Good agricultural practices) certified company; it detains a BRC (British Retail Consortium) certificate for the pack house facility and also LEAF; Linking Environment and Farming, for sound environmental practices.
These certificates are what allows Companhia do Vandúzi to export its perishable goods.
